Cloud DNS quick start
Create a zone, add records, delegate the domain and allow resolver caches to expire after changes.
Create the DNS zone
Open Cloud DNS in the Control Center and create the authoritative zone for the domain you want to manage. Keep the zone name aligned with the domain being delegated.
Add the records your service needs
A records map names to IPv4 addresses, AAAA records map to IPv6, CNAME records alias one hostname to another, MX records route mail and TXT records carry verification or mail-policy data.
Delegate the domain
Configure the domain to use the authoritative nameservers provided for the Cloud DNS service. Domain delegation and the records inside the zone are separate pieces of configuration.
Understand TTL and propagation
DNS resolvers cache answers for the record TTL. A correct change can therefore take time to appear everywhere. Lowering a TTL shortly before a planned migration can reduce the cache window, but existing caches still have to expire.
