FAQ

Common questions about MikroTik CHR

What is MikroTik CHR?

Cloud Hosted Router (CHR) is MikroTik RouterOS designed to run as a virtual machine. It provides RouterOS routing, VPN, firewall and network features without dedicated router hardware.

Is 512 MB RAM enough for CHR?

For many small VPN hub and routing workloads, CHR has modest memory requirements. Larger routing tables, more tunnels or heavier packet processing can benefit from the larger Cloud Router plans.

Is a RouterOS license included?

The Free CHR license is available without an additional license charge and is limited by MikroTik to 1 Mbps per interface. Optional perpetual P1, P10 and P-Unlimited licenses can be purchased during assisted setup.

Can I add more public IPv4 addresses?

Yes. Additional public IPv4 addresses are €3/month each. Larger allocations can require justification.
